This article covers the Curvo desktop app, Companion. For the web app, see The Meetings page.
Upcoming Meetings and Past Meetings in the sidebar list your meetings. You start recording from a row, or from the card Companion shows when it spots a call on your computer. The sidebar starts collapsed to icons.
Other sidebar items
Search opens Ask Curvo. Available on selected workspaces. See Ask Curvo in Companion.
Recordings opens the Meetings page of the web app in your browser.
Reports only shows the message "Reporting is coming soon." There are no reports in the desktop app yet.
Connect a calendar first
Both lists need a connected calendar. Without one, they show a card titled Flying blind here, and your past meetings stay hidden too.
Click Link Calendar.
Choose Google Calendar or Outlook.
Calls Companion spots still appear above that card.
What each row shows
Part of the row | What it tells you |
|---|---|
Tile | The company logo if Curvo finds one, otherwise the weekday and date |
Coloured marker | Green for a sales call, coral if anyone outside your company is on it, blue otherwise |
Title and time | The meeting name and time, plus Starting soon, Started or Ended for today's meetings |
Small icons | Summary, Transcript and Notes, when the meeting has them |
Footer | Participants, tags, Mark as Sales and any linked deal |
The footer and small icons only appear in the default Extended view. Compact view keeps each row to a minimal line.
Hover over a row to see more controls. The Shared or Private menu sets who can read the notes (see Who can see a meeting). The More actions menu (three dots) offers Join Google Meet, named after the meeting's platform, Copy meeting link and, on upcoming meetings that have one, View meeting brief. In a narrow window, Start now moves into this menu.
Above the list you can narrow it with All, External, Sales and Internal, search it, or click Filter to choose tags.
Upcoming Meetings puts anything starting within half an hour, or already running, in a group called Next. Past Meetings lists the newest first, with Load more at the bottom.
How Companion detects a meeting
Companion spots a call from the meeting window on your computer, so detection works without a calendar. Your calendar is only used to match the call to a scheduled meeting, by its join link. Matching never goes by time, so a call on an unknown link counts as off-calendar.
When Companion sees a call, two things happen:
A Meeting detected card appears, naming the platform when it can, such as Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Webex. It closes by itself after a few seconds unless you hover over it.
The Next group shows a row. An unmatched call appears as Off-calendar meeting? with Start Now. If the call matches a listed meeting, that meeting's own Start Now is the one to use, and a line underneath offers Start an instant meeting in case you're on a different call.
Detection alone doesn't record anything. If Meeting notifications is off under Settings, Meeting, the card stays hidden, but the row still appears.
Start or join a meeting
What you do | What happens |
|---|---|
Click the meeting's title or row | The live meeting view opens without recording. Recording starts by itself when you join that meeting on its link |
Click Start Now on a row | The live meeting view opens and shows Waiting to start until you join. Click Cancel to back out |
Click Start Curvo on the card | Starts recording as an instant meeting, titled like "[Instant] Google Meet - Nov 3, 14:05" |
Click Choose meeting (the arrow beside Start Curvo), then Record on a meeting | Records the call against the meeting you picked |
Click Join Google Meet in More actions | Opens the meeting link. This doesn't start recording, so click Start Now as well, or open the row first |
If you've opened one meeting and join a different call, the Meeting detected card appears for that call. While a recording is running, clicking another row takes you back to the recording.
Recording mode
Choose a mode under Settings, Meeting, Recording Mode.
Option | How it works |
|---|---|
Companion | Records on your computer, with no bot in the call. It needs a detected call before it can start. The app calls this the "Recommended experience". On a Mac it needs Microphone, Accessibility and Screen Recording access. With Audio only recording on, Screen Recording isn't needed. See Troubleshooting Companion |
Curvo AI Bot | A bot records the meeting from our servers. The app describes this as "For legacy devices". Unavailable while Audio only recording is on |
Open a past meeting
Click Past Meetings.
Click a row. It opens in the same window, marked Past meeting.
Read the Summary. From there you can copy it, change the Summary style or use Refresh summary.
Use Chat to ask questions about the meeting.
Click Open in Curvo to see it in the web app.
The Transcript panel only holds the last call recorded on this computer. For older meetings, read the transcript in the web app.
